AIMPOINT PRO

Well I finally broke down and upgraded my rifles optics from an Eotech 512 to a Aimpoint PRO. I loved the Eotech and used it for years but it has one shortfall, the battery life was only 500 hours. The Aimpoint PRO on the other hand has a battery life of 30,000 hour or approximately 3 years at power setting 7 out of 10 with 10 being the highest. Aimpoint recommends you leave the optic turn on all the time. So here are some before and after pictures. Plan to get by the range tonight and zero the Aimpoint.

  1. How do you like the larger dot? I really like the 1 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle, don't want to give my EOTech up!

  2. the red dot is smaller than what I had on the Eotech, but so far I like it. The smaller red dot will not cover a target at a longer distance unlike the Eotech. Over all both sight are great sights, just like that 30000 hour battery life.

  3. I almost got one of the EOtech XPS models over the 512, but they take a CR123 and not the rechargeable kind. The 512 will take rechargeable batteries. I'm not sure about Aimpoint.

  4. It uses one 3V DL 1/3N battery. This is it weak link, but on the upside it long battery life. So one battery in unit and one spare will take you out to 6 years of use with the optic on 24/7
